All work much like your computer when you connect to the internet. Cashpoint machines in busy locations usually have a direct connection to the main computer. This operates like a broadband internet connection and allows them to process more transactions. Other machines use a modem to connect to the main computer, just like your computer dialling up your ISP. This method of connection cannot handle a high volume of transactions, but is significantly cheaper. |
