These images show some of the problems associated with trying to detect moving objects in a scene. Often trees and bushes that move in the wind are assumed to be people or cars, since trees are not expected to move. Trouble can also be caused by camera shake, which causes the entire scene to wobble. The video on the left shows an "over-sensitive" computer, which has tried to track many stationary objects because they wobble slightly. The video on the right shows a much better attempt at tracking the moving objects, although there is one person going to the bin in the distance who has been missed. |
