Many modern security systems include electronic locks. These use a computerised controller to provide power to open the lock, rather than turning a key. The controller often consists of a keypad like a telephone where you type in a key code number.
These electronic locks can have many times more combinations than mechanical locks, often more than a million.
Further security can be provided by changing the key codes regularly, something not easily done with mechanical locks.
Try it! See if you can find the combination for the lock on the right.
