Computers can also help with treating patients. Robotics technology is being used for surgery. Miniature robot arms allow surgeons to operate on patients without having to open them up, since the tiny arms can be inserted through a small incision. This is known as "keyhole surgery". Robots are already frequently used for keyhole heart operations and other procedures. Patients recover from this type of operation in half the time required after a standard operation.
