magnetic resonance imaging

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machines provide extremely high quality images of the body. The machines use huge, powerful magnets to measure charged water molecules in the body.

The scanning process used to be rather intimidating for patients, but modern machines are smaller and quieter.

MRI is often used when dealing with conditions like epilepsy, since it can provide a clear picture of the brain. X-ray radiation techniques like CAT scanning do not work well with soft tissues like the brain.
