Digital television (DTV) works in just the same way as normal (analogue) television. The picture is made up of dots of just three colours: red, green, and blue. Even parts of the picture that are yellow, brown or white are made of dots of red, green and blue. When we look at the picture from a short distance, our eyes "join the dots" into one colour.
